Some families also found it too expensive to stay in a hotel on longer trips. Luckily the camper van provided a convenient solution to these problems. The vehicle was designed so that several people could live and sleep in it while travelling. |

| During the early twentieth century, camping was a popular activity for many people. Families often visited national parks where they could camp in tents. Although people enjoyed holidays in the outdoors, many missed the comforts of home. So, one family created a recreational vehicle that had a bed, sofa and kitchen inside. The camper van was pictured in a magazine and became a huge hit. People have been camping in comfort ever since. |
