The Eyes
Key points :
Parts of the Eye:
- Cornea: The transparent front part that helps focus light.
- Iris: The colored part of the eye that controls how much light enters.
- Pupil: The black circular opening in the iris that lets light in.
- Lens: Focuses light onto the retina.
- Retina: The layer at the back of the eye that senses light and sends signals to the brain.
- Optic Nerve: Transmits visual information from the retina to the brain.
How We See:
- Light enters through the cornea and pupil.
- The lens bends (refracts) the light and focuses it on the retina.
- Photoreceptors in the retina (rods and cones) detect light and color.
- The optic nerve carries the image to the brain, which processes what we see.
Function of the Eye:
- Eyes help us to detect light, colors, and shapes.
- The brain interprets the images to help us understand the world around us.
Eye Care:
- Avoid looking at bright lights or screens for a long time.
- Eat foods rich in vitamins A, C, and E (e.g., carrots, spinach).
- Regular eye check-ups are important to maintain good vision.
Common Eye Problems:
- Myopia (Nearsightedness): Difficulty seeing distant objects.
- Hyperopia (Farsightedness): Difficulty seeing nearby objects.
- Astigmatism: Blurred vision due to the irregular shape of the cornea.
- Wearing glasses or contact lenses can help correct vision problems.
