Key Notes:
What is First Aid?

- It aims to prevent the condition from worsening and to promote recovery.
Importance of First Aid

- A basic first aid kit should include items like bandages, antiseptic wipes, adhesive tape, scissors, tweezers, gauze pads, and a thermometer.
Common First Aid Procedures
- Cuts and Scrapes: Clean the wound with water, apply antiseptic, and cover it with a bandage.

- Burns: Cool the burn under running water for 10-15 minutes and cover with a sterile dressing. Do not apply ice.

- Nosebleeds: Tilt the head slightly forward, pinch the nostrils for 10 minutes, and breathe through the mouth.

- Choking: Use back blows and abdominal thrusts (the Heimlich maneuver) to dislodge an object blocking the airway.

- Sprains: Rest the injured area, apply ice, compress it with a bandage, and elevate the limb (RICE method).
